As part of beautification works at the Ottignies train station, our team realized an impressive temporary access infrastructure. This station, part of a major railway axis, makes this assignment a true prestige project.
Impressive construction in numbers
As a temporary solution, we built a robust replacement staircase measuring no less than 17 meters in length. A total of three staircases are being installed, accounting for 47 tons of steel. Each element was fully custom-designed and produced, tailored to the specific conditions of the construction site.
Smart approach: efficiency on and off the site
To minimize the impact on the construction site and train traffic, the project was approached with extreme strategy. A large part of the work is carried out during nighttime track closures, which requires precise planning and flawless execution. In addition, the staircases are pre-assembled at a separate location in the largest possible modules. This approach allows the structures to be delivered just-in-time to the construction site, enabling safer assembly, significantly reducing on-site working time, and maximizing efficiency.
